My daughter is a junior in high school. She breeds pig twice yearly. At this time we are awaiting her newest litter. They should be born any day. There is a lot of work involved in breeding pigs and most go unknown by people. The prep work is outrageous. I guess we kind of over do things so that probably doesn't help but I feel if we need to be there the extra prep work is beneficial.
We try to set the area up to keep us as warm as possible since we sleep near the pen for a few days each night. Basic electricity etc so we can see and run heat lamps etc. We run water lines to her pen and bring in all of the necessary items for the birthing process. When the piglets are born we have to do many things to them to assist in a healthy pig.
We clip their ear to mark the pig number or assist in identification,. We also clip there eye teeth and give them injections.

In todays day and age it seems myself like many want what's best for our kids. In this aspect it seems that so many of us run around like a chicken with it's head cut off. My youngest daughter is involved in so many things in school. I try to support her best I can, yet at times I feel I have a second or well, third job. Between being a single mom and Supporting her in everything she does I am consistently busy.
Although this blog may make you believe that I am unhappy with the "Busyness" that is my life it is far from the truth. I do not know what I will do without my daughters. It appears within a year or so both my daughters may be moving out and with this I am nervous.
